Our Team
Rick Mears is owner and General Manager of Alta Air Conditioning and Heating which began operations in 2003 and services customers in Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, and California, with its primary focus on the service and retrofit markets along the Wasatch Front. Their business mix consists of residential new construction, commercial new construction, retrofit and replacement, and service and repair. Alta Air currently employs (35) full-time employees and (3) part-time employees.
Mr. Mears has 25-years experience in the construction trades. During the past 15-years Mr. Mears has worked specifically in the HVAC business and has held positions as Vice President of Operations, Business Consultant, and Sales.
Mr. Mears holds a bachelors degree in Business Finance from the University of Utah, and enjoys spending time in the outdoors, golfing, and spending time with the kids.
Glen Martinsen has been with Alta Air since 2007 and has held positions as CFO and Controller in both the service industry and aerospace manufacturing. He received his MBA from Utah State University and his Bachelors in Accounting from Westminster University. As Accounting Manager for Alta Air he works in a variety of areas – Financial, Purchasing and Information Technology.
Steve Thomas is Alta Air's Program Manager overseeing installation, data entry, and service of the Rocky Mountain Cool Keeper energy saving devices.
Mr. Thomas holds a B.S. degree in Business Marketing and brings 27 years of management experience to Alta Air, and has worked extensively in the photo industry with experience in photo restoration and photo manipulation.
Mr. Thomas enjoys photography, golfing (he is clearly the best handicap at Alta Air), traveling, and spending time with the grandchildren.
Jeff Knight has been in the HVAC service industry for over 6 years, and has held positions in both service and sales in the HVAC business, as well as some marketing and management.
Mr. Knight is certified by the Rocky Mountain Gas Association, EPA, NATE, and others for the installation and service of all types of heating and air conditioning products. Mr. Knight handles the responsibilities of Service Manager for both residential and commercial clients.
Mr. Knight is in charge of all residential service and also works extensively as the liaison for the Utah Apartment Association in the HVAC industry for Alta Air and meets with the Apartment communities regularly to train and consult with the maintenance supervisors of individual apartment properties.
Jeff is a representative for Alta Air with Rocky Mountain Power Cool Keeper program and has done both sign-ups and installs of the device for commercial and residential customers.
Joe Fairbanks has been in the HVAC industry for the past 8-years and has loved every minute of it. In his own words, "I really like (real men don’t say love at work) the guys that I get to work with." Mr. Fairbanks is our Operations Manager and in charge of installations. His goal is to make every customer 100% happy! His best reward is when he receives a referral from a customer we did previous work for as it shows their appreciation for his work, and the efforts of his crews.
Brian Fairbanks has been with Alta Air since 2005 and has a Bachelors degree in Biology from Westminster University. In addition to sales, Mr. Fairbanks has worked in molecular biology research in vascular formation. Mr. Fairbanks is responsible for bidding and estimating projects from large commercial buildings to small residential homes. He has certified training in duct sizing and system design, as well as Manual J Heat Load calculations to help determine the correct furnace or a/c for any individual situation. Mr. Fairbanks is excited to represent Alta Air and feels the company in unsurpassed in the products and services they offer our community.
