Building Green in Utah

What exactly is building green in Utah?

Typically "green" refers to building with a sensitivity towards environmental concerns. Cutting emissions, waste, and energy use are all taken into account when building "green." Over the lifetime of a building and its HVAC system there are great impacts upon the environment. Many natural resources are used up and destroyed to build new structures. Green building will greatly reduce the impact that buildings and their internal systems have upon the environment. Renewable resources are now a focus when it comes to new construction. Many rebates and other benefits are realized when building with "green" in mind.

To date, there aren't any strict regulations when it comes to "green" construction. However, for a building to be considered green, residential or commercial, there has to be a significant amount of planning to accommodate the "green" updates. HVAC systems play a major role in keeping a building green. Whether using Hybrid Heating/Cooling systems, geothermal, or other environmentally friendly processes, the heating and cooling of a building can reduce the long-term effects of its existence on the environment.
